The 9th International Forum on Project Management, hosted by China International Talent Exchange Foundation and co-organized by the Project Management Institute (PMI®), was successfully held in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on April 24, 2021. Wan Jinfa, Deputy Director of China International Talent Exchange Foundation, Sunil Prashara, Global President and CEO of PMI, and Chen Yongtao, Managing Director of PMI (China) addressed the Forum. And project management experts from Assure Care LLC, China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd., Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd., Inspur International Ltd., and JD Retail Group were invited to give keynote speeches. More than 600 people from government departments, enterprises, universities, registered education and training institutions as well as practitioners and enthusiasts related to project management participated in the Forum on site. The Forum was thrown open to the public via webcast platforms and had a viewing audience of over 238,000 people by the time it ended.

As part of the Talent Attraction Section of the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals, the “International Forum on Project Management” has been successfully held for nine consecutive sessions. Themed at “Turn Crises into Opportunities and Make Steady and Long-term Progress”, in allusion to the context that global project management has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, with a global view based in China, the Forum invited foreign and domestic authoritative experts to discuss how enterprises and organizations can cope with external changes caused by factors like epidemic, innovate in management mode with the support of projects, and accelerate transformation and upgrading so as to achieve high-quality and sustainable development.
Wan Jinfa, Deputy Director of China International Talent Exchange Foundation, introduced the gratifying achievements made by CITEF in the cultivation of international professionals, especially project management professionals. He pointed out that CITEF had long been actively utilizing its talent attraction resources to introduce and promote PMI international project management knowledge system and certification and to cultivate international project management professionals in a large scale, which had provided effective support for the transformation and upgrading of various organizations as well as industrial, regional, and even national sci-tech innovation and social-economic development. As China has entered “the 14th Five-year Plan” period, CITEF will further enhance its cultivation of innovative, applied, and skilled talents and professionals of international competitiveness, to support and guarantee the implementation of the strategy of revitalizing China through science and education, the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resource development, and the strategy of pursuing innovation-driven development.

Mr. Zhou Kezhang, Deputy General Manager of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd., expressed his expectation for the future development of EPC management mode by analyzing the exploration and practice in EPC project management. Mr. Cao Wenjun, Head of Customer Service Department of Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., elaborated on the practice and reflection in the project management of large complex equipment products and comprehensively analyzed the product features and project management system of his company. Mr. Liu Rui, Deputy General Manager of Engineering Project Management Center of Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd., explained how to execute whole-process risk control with risk management knowledge for major engineering projects, overseas projects, and multi-organization cooperative projects under the impact of the pandemic while minimizing the uncertainty of the project, maximizing the management efficiency, and facilitating the fulfillment of organization-level objectives. Mr. Liu Chengming, COO of Inspur International Ltd., pointed out that the pandemic had made “stay-at-home economy and cloud living” a new normal, so remodeling the operation system based on project management will give enterprises better tenacity in coping with uncertainties. Mr. Ye Jingfa, Chairman of the Project Channel Standing Committee of JD Retail Group, analyzed the tremendous impact of the pandemic on the production and marketing of traditional industries and explained how automobile enterprises could pursue development under the trend of technical progress, policy support, and consumption upgrading.
This Forum focused on the new pattern and new ideas related to project management under public health emergencies, learning from best practices of enterprises and carrying out profound discussions in multiple dimensions such as theory, application, and trend, which brought a unique thought feast to the guests.
