On June 29, 2021, the "2021 Series of Overseas Talents’ China Visit to Hubei - Special Session on New Energy and New Materials”, hosted by China Association for International Exchange of Personnel and Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, and jointly undertaken by Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Cooperation Center with Foreign Countries, Hubei Association for International Exchange of Personnel, Institute of New Energy, Wuhan, Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel and Organizing Committee of Conference on International Exchange of Professionals, was held in Wuhan. Xia Bing, Deputy Director of the Office of China Association for International Exchange of Personnel and Wu Jun, Deputy Director of Department of Science and Technology of Hubei Province, attended the event and delivered a speech.

In the video speech, Xia Bing stated that science and technology are universal and of the times, and a global vision is required for the development of science and technology. In the face of the new scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, it is difficult for any country to meet such major global challenges as climate change, energy, resources and public health on its own. Therefore, countries should further deepen exchanges and cooperation in terms of scientific and technological talents, actively explore the frontiers of basic scientific theories, and jointly create more fresh impetus to development. "Overseas Talents to Visit China" is the brand event of Conference on International Exchange of Professionals, based on which, the "2021 Series of Overseas Talents’ China Visit to Hubei" is an important measure to serve the needs of basic science, applied science and industrial development of Hubei Province, and help the construction of comprehensive scientific research platform of Hubei Province. The Special Session on New Energy and New Materials is the first session; in the coming months, three more special events focusing on other key areas in Hubei Province will be held to serve the economic and social development of Hubei Province.

Wu Jun stated in his speech that Hubei is rich in educational resources, with 129 universities and about 1.6 million college students. With a good industrial foundation, Hubei has 17 industries of CNY 100 billion level; industries such as "Optoelectronics, chips, screens, terminals and networks", information technology and intelligent manufacturing are developing rapidly. Relying on the huge development potential, Hubei is planning a new chapter and new layout, aiming to unswervingly promote the construction of a strong province by science and technology, accelerate the building of a nationally influential scientific and technological innovation center in Wuhan and Donghu Comprehensive National Science Center in Hubei, and create an Optics Valley Science and Technology Corridor with Donghu Science City as the core. Hubei will continue to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, build an informed, open and inclusive ecological environment for scientific and technological innovation in line with international standards, embrace the world with a broader mind, and create the future with a more ambitious attitude. We hope that Chinese and foreign organizations will actively engage in negotiations and extensive cooperation, and take Hubei as a cooperation platform to support the innovative development of Hubei and win the future together!

This special event invited 12 foreign experts and technology holders from Japan, Russia, Finland and other countries to exchange via video link with more than 10 universities such as China Three Gorges University, Hubei University of Technology, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University of Technology, as well as more than 20 enterprises such as Wuhan Zhongzhi Xianfeng Technology Co., Ltd., Resource Creating Technology Environment Co., Ltd., Wuhan Optics Valley Green Energy Co., Ltd., Wuhan Huake Zhongying Nanotechnology Co., Ltd., Hubei Jinshui Environmental Engineering Co., Ltd., Wuhan Optics Valley Bluefire New Energy Co., Ltd. Eleven projects were promoted at the event, covering the processing of ceramic laminated electronic components, carbon nano-structure reinforced composite materials, preparation of thermoplastic polymer based composite materials, treatment and reuse of wastes, stability analysis of distributed power system and power equipment, technology solutions for recycling biological economy and recycling economy, etc. Among them, the following technologies have aroused strong interest of Chinese universities and enterprises: Japan’s technology of transforming food waste into environmentally friendly feed - recycling technology of local production for local consumption to local consumption for local production, waste/sludge treatment and reuse technology and other energy recycling treatment and application technologies; the industrialization technology of carbon nano-structure reinforced composite based on copper and aluminum from Peter the Great Saint-Petersburg Polytechnic University, Russia; Honkajoki’s organic recycling technology for waste meat and other animal by-products and ENMAC's organic recycling technology for aquaculture (fishery) water and sludge from Finland. In the interaction stage, all participants actively asked questions with warm atmosphere.
