Professionals (CIEP) jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government was held online on May 26. This conference was highly valued by the Ministry of Science and Technology (State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs), the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and People’s Government of Guangdong Province, as well as various other provinces and cities. Wang Zhigang, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, gave a keynote speech and declared the opening of the conference. Li Meng, Vice Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology and Director of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, presided over the Shenzhen Forum & Opening Ceremony. Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province, Meng Fanli, Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee, and other leaders and guests attended the conference and gave speeches by video.
The 20th CIEP was originally planned to be held in Shenzhen from April 24 to 25, 2022. However, due to the impact of the pandemic, the time and mode of this conference was adjusted as per Notice of the National Leading Group for Cleaning Up and Standardizing Celebration, Seminar, and Forum Activities on Establishing a Dynamic Control Mechanism for Festivals and Exhibition Activities under Normalized Epidemic Prevention and Control. The offline conference was cancelled, while various activities were carried out online instead, including exhibitions, forums and meetings, theme activities, and talent recruitment, to serve international cooperation in sci-tech innovation as well as international talent exchange in a comprehensive way.
After the opening of this CIEP, totally 2,195 foreign and domestic exhibitors registered online for the exhibition. They brought 2,096 projects and 3,221 products for display and transaction and posted 6,300 pieces of supply and demand information about talents and projects, covering such fields as energy and low carbon, environmental protection technology, AI, biological medicine, IT for epidemic prevention, intelligent equipment, aerospace, digital economy, chip technology, information security, IoT, and blockchain. Totally 20 training channels outside Chinese Mainland from 14 countries including the US, the UK, Russia, Germany, Japan, and Singapore, 27 foreign expert organizations, and exhibitors from 21 provinces, regions, and cities like Fujian, Henan, and Liaoning as well as Hong Kong and Macao displayed a batch of key techniques and core products that perfectly cater to the market demand and assist with industry convergence online for negotiations. Nearly 50,000 individuals participated in the online activities such as forums, theme activities, and talent recruitment. The live broadcast of the Shenzhen Forum & Opening Ceremony had an audience of 4,373,200 people, and those of the “Forum on Scientific and Technological Innovation Underpinning Rural Revitalization”, “China International Finance Professionals Development Forum”, and “2022 Digital Economy and Digital Management Accounting Development Forum” had a cumulative audience of nearly 10 million people, which achieved favorable results.
