The 19th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) was successfully held in Shenzhen from April 24 to 25, 2021. Wang Zhigang, Minister and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province (then Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee), Qin Weizhong, Mayor of Shenzhen (then Deputy Secretary of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Leadership Group of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government), Wang Xi, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Lu Ming, then Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and special guests including Horst Vogel, Winner of the Chinese Government Friendship Award, Chief Scientist of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academician of Swiss Academy of Sciences, O.S. Ganiyusufoglu, Winner of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and Academician of Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften e.V., and Thorsten Keiter, Senior Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China, attended the opening ceremony and exhibition.
Themed at “Innovation, Development, Cooperation and Win-Win”, this CIEP took on a new “double-engine" mode in the form of both online and offline exhibitions. The offline conference involved 5 major sections: Opening Ceremony, Shenzhen Forum, Exhibitions and Negotiations, Talent Recruitment, and Theme Activities, while other functional services were offered online, including Virtual Exhibition Hall, Project Matchmaking (EO system), Online Recruitment, and Online Conference. Totally 54 meetings and activities were held, which attracted more than 1,000 professional organizations, institutions, and enterprises from over 30 countries and regions, and more than 10,000 foreign and domestic government representatives, experts and scholars, and high-end talents. According to available statistics, 392 exhibitors displayed 885 projects and 322 products for transaction at the exhibitions, provinces and cities reached over 695 intentions to cooperate with professional organizations, training institutions and returnees, and the two-day conference attracted 35,000 visitors.
During the two days, the conference was widely reported by 216 foreign and domestic media with more than 10 million views worldwide, and more than 78 million views on new media; the live broadcast of the opening ceremony had an audience of 2.8 million people.
