The 12th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP), hosted by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, was held in Shenzhen from November 6 to 7, 2013. More than 1,600 cooperation or intent agreements were signed for all provinces and cities in China, and the total number of participants exceeded 80,000.
The conference, themed by “Integrating Global Intelligence to Promote Co-development”, was comprised of 12 exhibitions areas with a total of more than 2,500 booths and an exhibition area of 60,000 square meters, covering all aspects of the talent field. The conference was attended by more than 3,500 overseas professional organizations, training institutions, colleges and universities, talent agencies and high-tech enterprises from more than 70 countries and regions including the United States, Europe and Australia, and more than 2,200 overseas representatives. A large number of Central SOEs participated in this conference in delegation for the first time.
Five overseas expert organizations and training institutions from outside Chinese Mainland were newly accredited by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs to carry out personnel exchanges and cooperation with China. As of November of that year, a total of 402 institutions had been accredited, including 110 overseas expert organizations and 292 training institutions.
During the conference, 45 promotion and signing activities, 63 special sessions and business meetings were held. A number of activities such as the selection and release of “2013 Charming China- The Most Attractive Chinese City in the Eyes of Foreign Talents”, Awarding Ceremony of the National Talent Introduction Demonstration and Promotion Base and Demonstration Organization in 2013, The 30th Anniversary of Mr. Deng Xiaoping’s Talks in 1978, the First International New Industry Innovation Conference and the First China Internet Finance Forum were the new contents of the conference. The State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs signed or concluded more than 1320 cooperation agreements in terms of international talent exchange, of which 800 were for foreign expert introduction, and 520 were for expatriate training.
In addition, overseas high-level talents actively negotiated with domestic institutions; more than 200 projects were connected successfully, with cooperation or intention agreements being reached with government departments, enterprises and business incubators; nearly 30 overseas students’ associations reached cooperation intentions with domestic institutions. At the 2013“Innovation Talent Cup” Global Chinese Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Promotion Conference in particular, 50 projects were highly concerned by venture capital institutions such as Shenzhen Investment Promotion Bureau Technology Investment Group and business incubators in China.
