The 2008 Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP), organized by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, was held in Shenzhen from November 28 to 29, 2008. During the 7th CIEP, more than 2,500 projects achieved agreements on cooperation and over 3,000 positions were filled. The International Talents Summit was held to select 15 “China’s Most Influential Overseas Experts in the 30 Years of Reform and Opening-Up”. The two-day conference and the International Talents Summit attracted over 70,000 visitors.
The 7th CIEP was attended by more than 5,000 professional representatives appointed by over 900 overseas expert organizations, training institutions, research institutions, universities, talent agencies and well-known enterprises from 40-plus countries and regions, and by 3,100 organizations and institutions of national ministries, commissions and offices, provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and cities specifically designated in the state plan, with 5,000-plus domestic and international projects involved. A total of 20 project promotion meetings and signing ceremonies were held by Tianjin, Heilongjiang, Guangxi, Shenzhen Longgang, Research Institute of Tsinghua University in Shenzhen, the Council of Hong Kong Professional Associations and others. The State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and overseas expert organizations have reached 1,652 cooperation intentions in employing overseas experts who are primarily engaged in the fields of environmental protection, energy conservation and emission reduction, scientific and technological innovation, culture & education, modern services, and public administration.
